What is Hydra?
Hydra is an AI chat that brings models from several AI companies into one place: Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Perplexity and more. Smart mode picks a model for each question; Fusion asks several at once and writes one answer that shows where they disagreed.
Which AI models does Hydra use?
Claude (Anthropic), GPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), DeepSeek, Mistral and Perplexity, plus many more through OpenRouter. The models on offer are the ones connected to the site, plus any you add with your own API key. Hard questions, such as code and maths, go to Claude Fable, the top tier of Anthropic's Claude models, when it is connected.
How much does Hydra cost?
Your first 10 messages are free, with no account. After that it is £13.99 a month (Hydra Plus, paid through Stripe), which includes every mode and a monthly usage allowance on Hydra's models. That is less than ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro. With your own API keys from the AI companies, Hydra is free to use and the companies bill you directly.
Do I need an account to try Hydra?
No. Type in the box on the home page and you get answers straight away: your first 10 messages are free, in Smart and Fast modes. Create an account (just an email address and a password) to keep your chats on every device and to subscribe.
What is the difference between Smart, Fusion and Deep Think?
Smart picks one model per question: a fast model for quick questions and the strongest one for code and maths. Fusion asks several models at once, checks the claims they disagree on against the web, and writes one answer that says how much they agreed. Deep Think has a model think at length, then a second model reviews the draft before it is revised.
Can Hydra search the web and cite its sources?
Yes. With web search on, answers are grounded in current pages and carry numbered citations you can open. Research mode goes further: it splits a question into sub-questions, searches the web for each, and writes one report with a numbered source list.
Can I build a website or an app with Hydra?
Yes. In Build, describe what you want: Hydra plans the project, writes the files, checks them and shows a live preview. You can download the project as a .zip file, or publish it to a live address on Netlify with your own Netlify token.
Can Hydra connect to my apps and files?
Yes. Connectors add any MCP server (the open standard apps use to connect to AI), and Custom APIs import an API from its OpenAPI description. You can also upload PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, images and data, and analyse data with Python that runs in your browser.
Can I use my own API keys?
Yes. Add keys from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, OpenRouter and others in Settings, under API keys. Answers on your own keys cost only what the provider charges you; Hydra adds nothing on top.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings, then Account & privacy, and choose Manage subscription: Stripe's billing page lets you cancel at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
